  • Name Martin Rosentreter
    Birth Abt 1620
    Gender Male
    Death Bef 1730
    Notes
    • It's very likely that his father is Severin who was a Lutheran minister.
    • From Barbara Rosentreter [I1515]

I know he was a merchant and he made his way from Bavaria to Kaliningrad. I dare say he came from Bavaria.

That was the word of mouth in my family.

      But I don't know if it's true.

It was also a family tradition (among Catholics) that the eldest son was sent to a theological seminary. It is very visible in the families who lived in Kosznajderi (Koschneiderie).

Rog If this is the case and he was an established merchant before arriving in Koschneiderei he would have had to be about 30 years of age when he married.
    • A lot of the descendants of Martin, and their information, are derived from a variety of sources including Barbara Rosentreter [I1515], GEDBAS, Musolf Genealogy, and especially the Koschneiderei Mailing List (Michael Musolf, Felizitas Weise, Peter Pankau, Dieter Fetting, and others).

    • Hello Roger!

I think I have an explanation for the mysterious marriage date of April 2, 1651 of Martin and Marianna Rosentreter: In an important source for family research in the Koschneiderei "Personennachweis für die Koschnaewjerdörfer von 1651 - 1702" by Paul Panske ("Personal record for the Koschnaewjerdörfer from 1651 - 1702") can be found in the section for the village Lichnau on the name Rosentreter:

      Rosentreter Martin 1652 Schulmeister, x Marianna: diese M. Rozentreders Tp. 2. April 1651 und oft, zuletzt 25. Aug. 1656. Rozentreder Georg (Schulmeister) Tp. 2. März 1681. x S 25. Juli 1681 Agnes: Anna Mai 1683; Paul 6. Jan. 1685; Gertrud 4. März 1687; Catharina 23. April 1690; Georg 20. Jan. 1692; Peter 27

That means Marianna Rosentreter is said to have been godmother (Tp = Taufpatin) at a baptism on this date. A look at the baptismal register for Lichnau shows that she becomes godmother from June 1651, a little later. But that original date was obviously mistaken for the marriage date by someone.

Can you give me the background on the origin of Martin Rosentreters jouney from Bavaria (text or report or something)? Do you know from which place in Bavaria he came from?

Is there actually any knowledge about the DNA data of the descendants of Franz R. (born around 1762) about which we had exchanged some time ago. It would be great if we could find a connection about it.

If I can help you in any way, please let me know.

      Many greetings to "down-under"

      Uli Bonin
