Rosentreter State Journal-Register, The (Springfield, IL) - Tuesday, April 12, 2016 Walter J. "Walt" Rosentreter 1931 - 2016 CARLINVILLE, IL - Walter J. "Walt" Rosentreter, 85, of Carlinville, passed away Sunday evening, April 10, 2016, at Heritage Health Care in Carlinville, Ill. Walter was born March 8, 1931, to Peter and Christina (Bomkamp) Rosentreter in Carlinville, Ill. He served in the U.S. Air National Guard during the Korean War. Walt married Mary H. Skertich on July 18, 1953, at St. Simon and Jude Catholic Church in Gillespie, Ill., and she survives. Walt is survived by his wife, Mary H. Rosentreter of Carlinville; two daughters, Renee A. (Rick) Moore of Columbia, Ill., and Denise L. (David) Boente of Carlinville; five grandsons: Kent (Kristi) Johnson, Eric Johnson (fiancée, India Blevins), Kyle (Alisha) Moore, Ryan (Charline) Boente, and Sean (Kali) Boente; two granddaughters, Lindsay (Collin) Moore, and Melissa (Dave) Suits; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy (Leo) Kalaher of Carlinville; as well as several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 15, 2016, from 4-7 p.m. at Ss Mary & Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville with a prayer service being conducted at 3:45 p.m. Following visitation, the Elks Ritual will be performed by the Carlinville Lodge #1412. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at 10 a.m. at Ss Mary & Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville, Ill., with the Rev. Dean Probst, officiating. Burial will follow at New Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to: Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, Carlinville Area Hospital, or The Macoupin Center for the Developmentally Disabled.
