Clarice Rosentrater was born on Dec. 21, 1918 at Yuma, Colorado. She was the sixth of eight children born to Walter and Alice Pesch Stevenson.
The family moved to Fort Morgan, Colo., where she attended elementary school. The Stevenson family then moved south of Sutherland, Neb., and Clarice attended high school in North Platte, Neb., graduating from North Platte High School in 1937. After her graduation, she worked as a telephone operator in North Platte.
Clarice was married to Malvin Rosentrater on Oct. 28, 1943 at the First Lutheran Church in North Platte and they made their home on their farm north of Elsie, Neb., for the rest of her life.
She had developed a malignancy and had been moved to the Sutherland Care Center in May where she died on Sunday morning, Aug. 12, 2007. She had reached the age of 88.
Clarice was a long time member of the Paxton Trinity Lutheran Church and the Trinity Circle. She enjoyed the sewing and quilting sessions held at the church. She and her family always enjoyed their big garden and flowers.
In addition to her parents, Clarice was preceded in death by four sisters, Hetty Goedert, Susie Zimmerman, Ella Green and Mickey Newtson; one brother, Bob Stevenson; one son Dan Rosentrater and one grandson, Troy Rosentrater.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin; one daughter Margie and husband Jim Holm of Sutherland; three sons, Jerry and wife Deb of rural Elsie, Don and wife Dianne of Ritzville, Wash., and Rick and wife Leana of rural Bridgeport; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Shimmin of Tryon, Neb., and June Powers of North Platte; other relatives and friends.

PAXTON - Clarice Rosentrater, 88, of rural Elsie died Aug. 12, 2007, at the Sutherland Care Center. She was born Dec. 21, 1918, at Yuma, Colo., to Walter and Alice Pesch Stevenson. The family moved to Fort Morgan, Colo., and later to a farm south of Sutherland. Clarice attended North Platte High School, graduating in 1937. On Oct. 28 1943, Clarice was married to Malvin Rosentrater in North Platte. They made their farm home between Paxton and Elsie their entire married life. Clarice was a member of the Paxton Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting. She was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother; one son, Dan; and one grandson, Troy Rosentrater. A memorial has been established. Clarice is survived by one daughter, Margie (Jim) Holm of Sutherland; three sons, Jerry (Deb) of rural Elsie, Don (Dianne) of Ritzville, Wash., and Rick Rosentrater; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Jean Shimmin of Tryon and June Powers of North Platte. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Paxton Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Elwood Hipple officiating. Burial will be in the Paxton Cemetery.
