NILES — Henry E. Klann, 92, of Niles died at 8:55 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005, at Lakeland Specialty Hospital, Berrien Center, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Niles, with the Rev. Carl W. Bassett officiating. Burial will be in Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, Niles. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Mr. Klann was born Nov. 17, 1912, in St. Joseph to Edward Klann and Bertha Herrmann Klann. He lived in Niles since 1945, coming from Baroda. Henry was a farmer, on the family farm, and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Niles. He spent his winters in Estero, Fla., where he enjoyed fishing and shuffleboard.
On June 30, 1934, in Baroda, he married the former Elsie Clara Rosentreter. She preceded him in death on Feb. 13, 2000. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanette Warda, in June of 2004; and seven brothers and sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Elaine (David) Gibson of Niles; son, Kurt (Rose) Klann of Niles; son-in-law, Henry Warda of Niles; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.”
