  Notes	Registry was informed of his death by son Eduard. See Eduard's death certificate for more information. He didn't die at home. He was on Gramattenbrücker Feldmark in the forest when he died. A terrible family tragedy. Large German daily newspapers reported on it. The old Eduard Rosentreter was known as an easily excitable, domineering and irascible man. On January 18, 1900, he and his sons Eduard (27 years old) and Ernst (23 years old) fell trees in the forest. His son Eduard was stubborn and did not obey his father's orders. The father got angry. He had a measuring rod in his hand and hit the son on the head with it. The son got angry too. He took a piece of wood and hit his father on the head. He performed the blow with his left arm, as the right arm was injured. The father suffered a serious head injury and died. Nevertheless, both sons continued to beat him. Eduard junior reported the death to the authorities and said the father had been killed by a tree. The next day they made a comprehensive confession to the head of the office of Kramske (now Krępsko). Both young men were arrested and taken to the judicial prison in Schneidemühl (now Piła) as detainees. On April 4, 1900, the trial took place before the jury in Schneidemühl (now Piła). They were granted extenuating circumstances. Eduard received 1 year and 6 months in prison. Ernst received nine months in prison. Pretrial detention was credited to both of them.
